Stylin’ in my newly arranged Living Room
I woke up with a sudden urge to rearrange my Living Room. Tired of looking at the same old room in the same old way…I decided to changed it. For me, I need to start with a clean slate, I take out all of the smalls, (lingo for tchotchkes trinkets, decorative stuff) then onto the furniture. I don’t necessarily take the furniture out of the room but move them to one side. Next, I find my new focal point, in this case it’s my faux Fireplace. Placing the sofa directly across from the fireplace, then adding the two danish modern chairs. Floating the furniture away from the walls leaves plenty of walk around room. By placing my jute area in the center of the group so that the front legs of furniture rest on the rug, anchors the group. The “jacks” side-table with the glass top, is lighter and allows me to still see the Fireplace. I do have a coffee table/chaise lounge in front of the sofa(see the pic below) Once all the bigger pieces are in place and I like it, I added the shelves to house the few selected tchotchkes. How do I decide what I want to keep on display and what to hide away? Not so easy. I do love my nice little collection of vintage white pottery, so I started there. Next I added some wood – letters and more wood – candle sticks and more wood – stubs (from my husbands left over deck, bowls (from the kitchen), anything I thought would be interesting. Remember to take a step back and edit. Really, really edit so the shelves look interesting and uncluttered. Layer with pillows and flowers and now I am chillin’ in my newly rearranged living room.

plenty of space to walk around, and I love, love, love my ceiling detail!
