Why Do I Love Denim

The first boy I fell head-over-heels with wore Levis 501’s and his yellow Mr. Zogs Sex Wax" t-shirt.  This was in the 6th grade at Calle Mayor Middle School and I was sooo smitten with "Mike" in his dark blue Levis.  In high-school the ONLY jeans I would wear were classic cut, Levis 501’s, nothing else, nope, never!  Well, I now have over 15 pair of denim jeans, an assortment of styles, sizes, washes and brands.  I have to say I still think my favorite go-to jeans are still my 501’s.

Literally, I could find a way to wear denim every single day, to every (almost every) occasion, not just on weekends.  I love the feeling of denim just out of the dryer, soft and crisp!  I love the way denim has a life of it's own, fading and fraying in all the right places.  I love that anyone, any size, any budget can look great in denim. Denim is versatile, stretchy, comfortable, dressy, cool, timeless, trendy, iconic, perfect!

Don't you love these bleach-splattered, cherry-blossom painted boyfriend jeans?   I really do have all the intentions in the world to make these painted denim "husband" jeans, I want to wear them with a particular pink sweater this winter.  (Look for my DIY on painted jeans soon)

A little Denim trivia question: Ever wonder what that little fifth pocket in your jeans is for?

Answer: It's a watch pocket. Back in the 1800s, cowboys used to wear their watches on chains and kept them in their waistcoat. To keep them from getting broken, Levis introduced this small pocket where they could keep their watch. ... Back in the 19th century when jeans were invented, it was called a watch pocket. Today, this little pocket is used to keep your small items like coins, lipstick, tickets, condoms (that's what I've heard) etc.
